The name, image and likeness (NIL) era of college athletics officially kicks off on Thursday, July 1, and if you work in college athletics or an NIL-related industry, I’d like to hear about your experiences on Thursday for Friday’s newsletter.
If you’re willing to connect by phone or email Thursday afternoon/evening, drop me a line at andrew [dot] wittry [at] gmail [dot] com or message me on Twitter, and if you’re an athlete, coach or administrator, I can grant you anonymity if that allows you to speak more freely.
Or, if you’re simply a fan of college sports who has any questions about NIL that you’d like answered, feel free to comment below.
I'm curious, how will the NIL era affect the average, not-famous athlete? For example, does your typical backup tight end at a P5 school stand anything to gain by the new rules? Nobody ever wanted his autograph anyways lol. Isn't his scholarship now at risk?
